Another amendment to the Labour Code as of 1 August 2024?

On 3 July 2024, the Senate received a government bill which, among other things, introduces changes to the Labour Code. With the exception of certain parts, the law is to come into force on the first day of the calendar month following its promulgation. It is therefore possible that the changes to the Labour Code will take effect as early as 1 August 2024.

There are more amendments to the Labour Code “in the process”, so what are they now? The relevant amendment

  • introduces the so-called minimum wage indexation mechanism and abolishes the institution of guaranteed wages,
  • allows the scheduling of working time to be negotiated exclusively by the employee,
  • allows for the negotiation of remuneration from the FTE/STP, taking into account possible night work, work in difficult working environments or work on Saturdays and Sundays (i.e. without any further right to statutory supplement),
  • removes the obligation for employers to establish a written holiday schedule,
  • regulates the area of liability for wages of subcontractor’s employees,
  • introduces specific modifications aimed at improving working conditions in the healthcare sector.

Especially the first 3 points are quite interesting practically, so we will inform you again soon about the further progress of the legislative process.
